Two Chickasha tournaments start today


Spring sports are in full swing this week with Chickasha hosting soccer and baseball tournaments starting Thursday.

Sixteen teams total will take part in the boys and girls brackets of the Chickasha Invitational soccer tournament. Play starts at 3 p.m. Thursday, with the Lady Chicks lining up against Duncan, and the same time Friday for Chickasha boys vs. Harrah. 

Madill, Lawton-MacArthur, Duncan, Harrah, and Elgin all send both boys and girls teams. Guymon and Mannford round out the girls bracket, and Southeast and Capitol Hill will take part in the boys' tournament.

Championship Saturday starts bright and early with consolation games at 8 a.m. for girls and 9:30 a.m. for boys. Every team will play three games, with championship games starting at 6:30 p.m.

Just down the road, the Washita Valley Classic will host 16 baseball teams. They are divided into Pool A and B, and each team will play three pool games through Thursday and Friday. Chickasha starts pool play at 4:45 p.m. Thursday against Western Heights, followed immediately by a game against Bishop McGuiness at 7 p.m.

The Fightin' Chicks play their last pool game against El Reno at 7 p.m. Friday. Saturday will see every team play their counterpart in the opposite pool, with the top-placed teams facing off at 3:30 p.m. Teams placed sixth-through-fourth will play at the Chickasha Junior High field.

Girls-Chickasha vs. Duncan, 3 p.m.

Boys- Capitol Hill vs. Duncan, 4:30 p.m.

Girls- Harrah vs. Mannford, 6 p.m.

Girls- Law-Mac vs. Elgin, 7:30 p.m.



Boys- Chickasha vs. Harrah, 3 p.m.

Boys- Elgin vs. Madill, 4:30 p.m.

Girls- Madill vs. Guymon, 6 p.m.

Boys- Southeast vs. Law-Mac, 7:30 p.m.



8 a.m.: Girls consolation semifinals 1 and 2, fields 1 and 2

9:30 a.m.: Boys consolation semifinals 1 and 2
