Updated 7:30: Deputies investigating drowning in Bridge Creek

BRIDGE CREEK —

The Grady County Sheriff's Office is investigating a drowning at a pond in the Bridge Creek.

Sheriff's Office Public Relations Officer Lisa Hatchett said witnesses saw a person riding a horse into the pond yesterday. Both man and beast went underwater, and the horse came up shortly after, but the person did not, according to Hatchett.

"The dive team is there and has recovered a body," Hatchett said.

It appeared the victim's horse slipped on a dam under the water Hatchett said.

Next of kin had not been notified as of press time, so a name nor gender were released.
