Street brawl results in public intox. arrest

A man was arrested for public intoxication after allegedly being caught wrestling with the owner of a car he hit on 19th Street on March 7.

Chickasha Police Officer Joel Hendrix noticed a group gathered around a car at the end of the driveway.

Hendrix said he saw Eric Hooper shove another guy, so he pulled up to the house, where he saw three people wrestling on the ground.

"All three stopped and got up at that time," he said. "During my investigation, I could smell an odor of alcohol on the subjects and for my safety I placed all three into investigative attention."

Hooper had been driving a work truck in the driveway and a man said Hooper hit his car while he was backing out of the driveway, which led to an argument, according to an incident report.

"I noticed Hooper was unsteady on his feet and was becoming irate," Hendrix said. "Hooper was also starting to walk away from me."

The other man was released.

Hooper was arrested for public intoxication and taken to the Grady County Jail.
