Man allegedly rushes patrol car, arrested for public intox

— man allegedly rushed to a patrol car Thursday when an officer drove up to speak with him, making the officer feel he was aggressive.

Chickasha Police Officer Cliff Walker said he was dispatched to the 16th Street and Pikes Peak Road area in response to a man who allegedly tried to kick a truck as it drove past.

"As I was pulling my vehicle over to speak with the subject, he suddenly started sprinting full speed directly toward my patrol car," Walker said. "I quickly came to a complete stop, placed the vehicle in park and opened the driver's side door to find the subject standing at the door."

He said the man, Deredact Sales, actions appeared aggressive, so he tackled Sales to the ground and stood him by the patrol car.

Walker said he noticed the smell of alcohol emanating from Sales, and Sales admitted to drinking.

"[Sales] told me that he was walking home from the Eagles Lodge after his wife left him there," Walker said. "When I asked him why he had charged my car the way he did, he told me that he didn't know that I was a police officer."

He said he called EMS because Sales sustained a cuts on his head from the scuffle.

Once cleared, Sales was arrested for public intoxication and taken to the Grady County Jail.
