CHICKASHA — Carl Albert boys made it two wins out of two for the night with a 74-52 victory over Chickasha on Monday.
The Fightin’ Chicks did manage to fight back in the second half a bit, but Carl Albert showed why they’re ranked fourth in Class 5A. Freshman Brock Henderson led Chickasha with 18 points while going seven-for-eight from the free throw line.
Once again, the Fightin’ Chicks started fast and perhaps gave the Titans a bit of a scare. Cole Young was active on the blocks early, and two quick buckets helped the Fightin’ Chicks to an early lead. Young finished with seven points.
But Hayden Howell quickly used his size advantage. The 6’ 6” forward was tough to stop down low, but at least Chickasha knew how he would score. That wasn’t quite the case for the Titans’ second 6’ 6” player. Wes Smith hit a long-jumper between a few threes, and in just two minutes as the second quarter ended his 10 quick points took Carl Albert to a 45-25 lead.
Chickasha outscored Carl Albert in the third 15-10 to put together somewhat of a comeback, but the Titans were too far out in front. The Titans shot 51 percent from the floor.
