Results lopsided in local school board elections

GRADY COUNTY —

Grady County’s annual school board election took place last night, with races in Rush Springs, Alex and Middleburg.

Rush Springs featured a race between Joe F. Harris Jr. and Matthew W. Brooks. Harris took the title 69.2 percent to 30.8 percent. There were 198 voters in this election.

Alex Public Schools had a much more lopsided victory with Nicole Anderson Bauman blowing out opponent Jill Hurley with almost 90 percent of the vote. Bauman had 127 ballots cast in her favor, and Hurley had 16 voters tab her name.

Middleburg’s race was a little closer, but Glenda Fenimore soundly defeated Jeremy Michael Scoles 72.3 percent to 27.7 percent with a total of 65 votes cast.

There were no school board elections in Chickasha. Municipal elections will take place on March 4.
