The Blanchard High School softball team lost the main event to No. 1 Cache at home Tuesday on senior night, but won a game that started Aug. 7 against the Lady Bulldogs.
Blanchard beat Cache 4-2, completing a game that was postponed due to rain in the fifth inning earlier this year, then lost 22-3 in the full game that followed.
The Lady Lions dropped to 9-16 with the loss. Cache is now 31-2.
The last game between Blanchard and Cache was rained out on Aug. 7 after Blanchard had taken a four-run lead in the fifth inning.
Freshman pitcher Jaden Shores started out on the mound for Blanchard. Neither team scored any runs in the fifth inning.
Blanchard senior Terran Clark had a short bunt, but was thrown out at first base.
In the sixth inning, Shores walked one batter, struck out three and Cache went scoreless.
Blanchard's Maddie Combs had a powerful hit to center field that reached the fence in the sixth inning. Cache's center fielder Nikki Horton couldn't get the ball in her glove, but the Lady Lions couldn't score in the inning.
Miscommunication between Blanchard's third baseman, pitcher and catcher caused the Lady Lions to give up a run in the seventh inning, but Blanchard held on to win the first game 4-2.
In the second game, the Cache Bulldogs came out on top with a lopsided win.
Mariah Brooks started out the bottom of the first inning with a fast grounder hit past first base. Shortly after, Shores had a hit past second base, allowing Brooks to score the first run of the game for the Lions.
The bases were loaded for Cache after several walks, when Torey Hamilton hit another ball to the fence, resulting in an RBI to tie the game 1-1.
Landmark hit a three-RBI double, giving Cache a 4-1 lead.
