Antique store closes at young age

CHICKASHA —

Jean Horn is closing down her antique shop, Aunt Jean's Attic, after 11 years because she had knee replacement surgery on one knee and needs it on the other.

Horn said she plans to keep the shop open until she runs out of inventory. Aunt Jean's Attic is located at 424 W. Chickasha Ave.

"You meet all kinds of people," Horn said. "The vendors were all senior citizens…I've lost several for health reasons."

Horn said she has customers from places like Norman and Oklahoma City. Many people come in to ask about the shop's resident dog, Prissy, Horn's shop greeter of 11 years.

"I'm not quitting because I want to," Horn said. "I'll probably try to keep my hand in."

Tammy Taylor said she recently sold her shop to downsize and bought Horn's shop. Until Horn runs out of inventory, Taylor Shirt Shak & Antiques runs out of a small section of Aunt Jean's Attic.
