Mouthful of information

— Students will be getting a taste of healthy living on Wednesday.

More than 1,200 students will pass through the giant mouth provided by "Farm to You," a health exhibit that will be held in the gym shared by Bill Wallace Early Childhood Center and Grand Ave. Elementary.

The mouth is the beginning point of a 40 by 40 foot enclosed walk-through with nine stations.

On Tuesday afternoon, several teachers volunteered their time after school to help assemble the exhibit, which came enclosed in several large bags.

At each station, students spend about six minutes learning about relationships between agriculture, food and health. The importance of physical activity and personal hygiene will be discussed.

Coach Callie Schlatter, Bill Wallace Early Childhood Center Health and P.E. instructor, coordinated the event.

The Chickasha community has been supportive of this event which promotes healthy living.

In addition to the parents and teachers volunteers as well as support from the Grady County OSU Extension Office, Schlatter said that several University of Science and Art Oklahoma drama students will be helping with the exhibits on Wednesday.

Several businesses in the community also made contributions including Spencer's Grocery, $35, Homeland, $25, and Walmart, $50.Students will be getting a taste of healthy living on Wednesday.
