Vandalism suspect turns himself in to CPD

CHICKASHA —

Chickasha police have arrested the man they believe is responsible for vandalism at the New Life Christian Church and connected with other occurrences of vandalism, as well.

Jacob Raymond Franklin, 18, turned himself in on Saturday after police obtained a warrant for his arrest on Friday. He was sought on a charge of defacing or injuring a house of worship.

Since the weekend of June 14, CPD has been investigating a string of vandalism cases, all involving the use of red and black spray paint.

“With all the vandalisms being so similar with the same type of paint and designs, [Franklin] is the primary suspect in the others as well but we will be continuing the investigation and hopefully will be able to clear up the other cases soon,” Chickasha Police Chief Eddie Adamson said.

The warrant for Franklin, Adamson said, was the result of an anonymous tip made to the Grady County Sheriff's Office along with the ongoing investigation. More information was obtained from the general public, a key influence in the investigation, he said.

“It is great that we have so much cooperation and support from the community and they provide us with the needed information so we can address incidents like this and get the suspects off the streets,” Adamson said.
