Friends of the Library hold annual meeting

— The Friends of the Library met for their annual meeting at the Alumni House at the University of Science and Art Oklahoma on May 15.

The group discussed their major fundraisers–two book sales and the Chocolate Celebration.

The wildly successful Chocolate Celebration raised $6,000 in 2013. The Chocolate Celebration will be held on Feb. 13 every year.

Catherine Cook, the Chickasha Public Library Director, will be retiring in June. She commended the Friends for their service, calling them the "golden goose that gives and gives."

The Annual Summer Luncheons are coming up, bringing new faces and new genres. A fantasy author and a romantic suspense author will be among the speakers.

Also new to the luncheons this year will be a local person reviewing a book before the scheduled author speaks.

The Friends of the Library discussed a possible author's festival, in which local authors would meet in the USAO Ballroom to hold book signings.

The 2014-2015 Board members are as follows:

President - Angie Lewis

Vice President - Elizabeth Stockton-James

Recording Secretary - Rebecca Cravens

Treasurer - Kathy Tibbetts

Member at Large - Judy Duprez

Publicity - Susan Gearhart

Used Book Sale - Pat Cacy

Book Festival - Christy Clift
