New online tool will make election day easier for voters

CHICKASHA —

A new online tool will allow Oklahomans to find information like their polling place, voter registration and absentee ballot status from the elections.ok.gov website.

The online voter tool located at www.ok.gov/elections/Voter_Info/Online_Voter_Tool/  features a map with directions to the user's polling place, a list of sample ballots in which they're eligible to vote, and when their absentee ballot was sent and received by their county election board.

Grady County Election Board Secretary Susan Turner said this will help her office because she receives a lot of calls from voters asking where their polling place is on election days.

"I encourage everyone to go see where they vote on the website," Turner said.

The website has had a polling place locator before, but the new tool allows voters to additionally look at sample ballots, track the status of their absentee ballots and check their voter registration, according to the State Election Board.

"The new online voter tool gives Oklahomans unprecedented online access to their voter information," State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax said. "We are especially happy to have this service up and running in time for the June 24 Primary election."

After users enter their name and birth date, they can view their information if they're successfully registered to vote, or see a message telling them to contact their county election board.
