Bright promoted to general manager-editor of Express-Star

CHICKASHA —

James Bright has been appointed general manager and editor of the Express-Star, effective immediately.

Bright has served as editor of the paper for the last 18 months. In his expanded role, he will be responsible for general operations as well as editorial content.

“I am excited about this challenge,” said Bright. “The Express-Star is the number one news source in Grady County as well as an important member of the business community. My job is to make sure we grow in both of those distinctions.”

In his general management role, Bright replaces Express-Star publisher Mark Millsap, who became publisher of the Norman Transcript three weeks ago.

Millsap said he was gratified Bright had been appointed to the top executive position at the Express-Star.

“James is a talented, driven executive,” said Millsap. “He has great leadership qualities and a knack for community news. He has also cultivated relationships during his time at the paper that will serve the community well.”

Bright spent his early journalism career as a reporter and editor of his hometown newspaper, the Rockwall, Tex., Herald Banner.

The Express-Star and Norman Transcript are both owned by Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc. CNHI, based in Montgomery, Ala., is one of the nation’s leading publishers of local news and information, with newspapers, websites and specialty publications in 23 states.
