Owls set consolation final spot with win over Dibble

AMBER —

Ninnekah will play for the Grady County consolation title after dumping Dibble out of the tournament 6-1 on Friday.

A run from leadoff Aaron Buckmaster in the opening frame proved to be writing on the wall for the Demons, who fall out of the Amber-Pocasset hosted tournament after an extra-innings loss to the hosts on Thursday.

Buckmaster crossed home plate off an RBI single from Nolan Miller. Sean Cox made it 2-0 in the second when Cody Reed's single sent him across the plate.

With Buckmaster on the mound, Ninnekah kept Dibble off the bags until the fourth. He walked Colby Johnson before Chad Reyes was hit by a pitch to put two on for the Owls.

Buckmaster composed himself, however, and the inning ended when Christian Hearon hit into a double play.

Ninnekah made it 3-0 in the fourth before a wild sixth inning that took the game beyond reach. The Owls plated three more before Dibble pulled back its only score of the game.

Either Minco or Alex await Ninnekah in the consolation final that takes place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
