PAULS VALLEY —
The Chickasha wrestling team placed second overall at the Pauls Valley Invitational this weekend.
The Fightin' Chicks had three wrestlers go undefeated to win their weight class, while junior high wrestlers finished fourth with two winning their class.
Senior Josh Latham won 8-7 in the finals to take first place and go 4-0 for the tournament in the 195-pound weight class. Latham, a defending state champion for Chickasha, is undefeated for the season. Also undefeated is senior Triston Hill, who pinned all of his opponents to win the 160-pound weight class in Pauls Valley.
Sophomore Dakota Resendez also went 4-0 to win the 126-pound class. He won a 6-2 decision in the finals. Riley Williams was close to making it four for Chickasha at Pauls Valley, but lost in overtime in the semifinals. Williams then got two consecutive pins to place third in 182-pound weight class.
Montana Moon (80-pound) and Kope Powel (heavyweight) won their weight classes for the junior high team. Devon Stephens placed second in the 89-pound weight class, and Ryder Ramsey placed fourth in the 98-pound class. Damian Barron competed in the 150-pound weight division and placed fifth.
Chickasha youth wrestlers attended the Midwest City Open over the weekend. Jaxon Randle won division 1 (37-pounds) and division 2 (43-pounds). Camden Gall placed first in the 40-pound division in Choctaw at the Novice State competition. Peyton Ward won the division three heavyweight class. Michael Moran placed 4th in division two 55-pounds.
