Drover men grab fourth shutout in a row

CHICKASHA —

The Drovers remain undefeated after a 4-0 shutout over Northwood University on Friday afternoon.

I took the Drovers a while to catch their stride in the home match. Despite outshooting the Knights 7-3 in the first half, the game went into halftime scoreless.

Finally, 65 minutes into the game junior Perry Sansford got things rolling with the first goal of the game off an assist by Liam Madden.

About 20 minutes later, Nicolas Alberto grabbed another off an assist by Bryan Byars, USAO’s goalkeeper. It wasn’t even a full minute later when Alberto added fuel to the fire with yet another goal, this time off an assist by Kalokwera Okot.

But the Drovers weren’t done yet. Roughly 30 seconds after Alberto’s second goal, Sansford scored off an assist by Niall Burley.

With the last three goals within the last five minutes of the game, the Drovers won what was originally a nail biter handedly. USAO outshot the Knights 19-6 in in the game.

Byars had four saves. It is his fourth shutout and fourth win of the season.

The Drovers advance to 4-0-2. They will play their next home game at 2 p.m. Friday against Bethany College.
