NORMAN, Okla. —
The Chickasha High School softball team won its first two games of the Victor Nellis Memorial OU High School Tournament on Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Chicks won the first game easily, run-ruling the Bethany Lady Bronchos 11-0 in five innings.
Kelsi Gore started the game, and Madison Snyder closed it out, with the pitchers combining for the shut-out.
Amanda Bradford and Tori Smith each hit a home run, and Bradford was a double away from hitting for the cycle.
Chickasha won its second game against Westmoore, 2-0.
Both of the runs came by way of Westmoore errors.
In the third inning, Kieley Clift reached base on an infield single. She stole second, and Westmoore botched the throw, so Clift took off toward third.
Westmoore threw it away again and Clift scored to take a 1-0 lead.
Karlye Weber scored on a similar play in the fifth inning. She stole third, and scored on the ensuing throwing error.
Head coach Dennis Furr gave credit to Westmoore's pitcher for making it difficult on the Chickasha hitters.
"She could pitch a little bit, she's actually a really good pitcher," Furr said.
Chickasha plays Red Oak today at 5 p.m., followed by a game against Community Christian at 6:45 p.m in Norman.
