New Year's resolutions for 2014 revolve mostly around fitness

CHICKASHA —

With every new year comes the slew of New Year's resolutions. People examine the last 365 days of their lives and decide where they fell short and how they can improve those shortcomings in 2014.

"Mine are to run 365 miles and to read 12 books. If I keep it simple, I'm more likely to succeed. Plus, both of these are easy to see if I'm still on track throughout the year," Jessica Jackson wrote in response to a New Year's resolution question on The Express-Star's Facebook.

Other respondents echoed Jackson's commitment to running and fitness.

"This year I'm committing to two half marathons, reading one life improving book a month, obtaining my PHR, and switching to clean eating," said Laci Sanders.

Many said creating a more healthy lifestyle was their key goal in the upcoming year.

"To get back on my low carb non processed foods. Only fresh and homemade," said Deborah Fawnsworth.

Tewanna Sueann Whiteshield said she hopes to take the top spot in a local fitness competition.

"Be one of the winners of the Biggest Loser of Chickasha this year with my team Embodyment Fitness 2014! Enjoy family & fitness to the fullest," she said.

Aside from fitness, simple resolutions and pleasures were mentioned for next year.

"I keep it simple read more than I did last year, watch a little less TV and a few more documentaries, tell my wife I love her, remind my mother how grateful I am for the life she gave me and above all else squeeze a little bit more out of the year I have been given," said J.J. Francis.

But others said their resolutions are doomed well before 12:01 a.m. Jan. 1.

"None, they go south, before exiting my mouth," said Cathy Rodgers.

Regardless, 2013 has come to a close and whether good or bad, all agree it created a plethora of new memories.
