Local art gallery preparing for exhibit of year

CHICKASHA — The photographs are chosen, the programs are sent off to the printers, and the work is still not done. The Oasis Studios and Gallery is preparing for its first art exhibit of the year. Oklahoma City native Teri Carr will be showing off her photographs for her show entitled, "Gaze".

The photographs will be on display from Jan. 29 until Feb. 9 and the opening ceremony will Saturday Feb. 2.

Not only will Carr be showing off her work, the Arabesque band will be performing live music.

Arabesque, a two man band consisting of Steve Vanlandingham and Miranda Arana,  will be performing from around six to nine p.m. Their style embodies a unique blend of Celtic and Middle Eastern instrumental music. They have been performing together since 2004. Arana plays the silver flute, the Irish penny whistle and the Vietnamese zither. Vanlandingham plays the Irish bouzouki, guitar, mandolin, banjo and the Middle Eastern oud.

"Programs, fliers, and mailers for the Gaze event have been dropped off at the printers," Oasis Studios and Gallery owner Jonathan Manning said on the studio's Facebook page yesterday. "It is getting so very close and there is so much to do around the studio. I am very excited."

The Oasis Studios & Gallery is located at 327 N. 6th Street.  This event is free and open to the public.  For more information visit the Oasis Studios and Gallery Facebook page.
