Ford named SAC basketball player of the week

CHICKASHA — After leading the Drovers in points scored in their first two games, senior Krista Ford was named the first Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week for women’s basketball.

Ford, who joined the Drovers just this season from Sul Ross State University, had 27 points in the team’s opener against Southwestern Assemblies of God and 17 the following day against Friends University. The Drovers won both games.

Ford, a guard from Lubbock, shot nearly 55 percent from the field in the two games. She currently ranks 12th in the division in points per game with an average of 22.

Also in those games, Ford had a total of 10 rebounds, two assists and four steals.

Ford is a history major and the daughter of Will and Kaye Ford.
