CHICKASHA — After 90 minutes of tough battling, the Drover women came out on top in the Friday afternoon Sooner Athletic Conference Quarterfinal game against Lubbock Christian.

Taking on the seventh-seeded Lady Chaps, second-seed USAO saw success late in the game, grabbing two in the second half while giving up just one to win the game 2-1 and continue their season.

While the first half saw difficulty finding the net for both teams, redshirt freshman Linda Addo broke the streak with a goal right in the middle of the second half. She followed that up with another goal just a minute and a half later. Taylor Fain and Jordyn Yates earned assists on those plays. Addo has 15 goals on the season.

Twenty minutes later, LCU’s Brooke Wendl scored her 18th goal of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1, but with eight minutes left in the game, it wasn’t enough to rally a comeback.

Freshman goalkeeper Brooke Worcester earned the win after making five saves in the game. It is her 11th win of the season. LCU’s keeper, Lauren Story, also had five saves in the game.

LCU outshot the Drovers 17-14 in the game, claiming 11 shots in the second half alone.

These two teams saw very different season starts. The Drovers went 0-4 in the first four games to come back to enter conference second seed and collect an overall record of 11-6-1. Lubbock Christian, on the other hand, had an amazing 12-0 start, finding themselves the final team in the NAIA to suffer a defeat. They end the season 12-5-2.

The Drovers, who before last season hadn’t won a SAC Tournament game, have now won their last four. They advance to the Conference Semifinals at 2 p.m. on Monday. They will host third-seed Oklahoma Baptist.

Earlier this season, the Drovers defeated OBU at home 4-3.
