This week's closing of La Fiesta in Chickasha was not due to a health department mandate.
B.J. Ford, administrative technician for the Grady County Health Department, said the organization did not shut them down.
"If they're closed they did that voluntarily," she said.
A sign on the front of La Fiesta on Thursday read, "To our customers, sorry we will close until further notice due to maintenance issues in our kitchen. We will open as soon as the issue is resolved. We are extremely sorry and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thanks, management."
La Fiesta was closed down by the health department earlier this year due the restaurant's noncompliance with food separation/protection, proper tasting procedures’ self-serve operations, single service use when required; insects, rodents or other pests controlled; approved thaw methods, active cool containers stored properly.
A report from the health department advised cockroaches were on the walls and table near the preparation area.
