Council tables parks plan discussion

CHICKASHA —

Water lines in the Ft. Cobb reservoir could seen extension in the near future after Monday night's city council meeting.

"What we are doing is hiring an engineer to possibly extend the line to the reservoir in hopes of combatting potential drought," Mayor Hank Ross said.

Although previous reports stated that such an action may help with the taste and smell of the water, Ross was hesitant to admit to any such possibility until an engineer had thoroughly looked at the problem.

"I'm not ready to take a stance on that publicly, yet," he said.

The council also tabled discussion on the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Ross said a website that would have allowed the council to review the plan, wasn't working properly, creating a need for more review time.

Ross emphasized that any money allocated from the plan would have nothing to do with the current 3/4 cent CIP sales tax up for renewal on Sept. 10.

"We are just trying to get a better plan, so later down the line we are consistent." he said.

The council will discuss the plan during their next work session.
