A man was arrested after admitting to firing a shotgun at a stop sign while intoxicated on Sunday.
Ryan Yates was taken into custody and an affidavit alleging reckless conduct while in possession of a firearm arm was filed with the district attorney's office.
Wile en-route to the Grady County Jail, Yates admitted to shooting the gun, according to an incident report.
"I was drunk and deserves (sic) everything," Yates wrote in his statement.
Chickasha police officers responded to a call of shots fired at 511 S. 8th St. Upon entering the residence at that location, police found alcohol and a shotgun smelling of freshly burnt gun powder.
Witnesses at the scene said the subject who fired the shotgun was Jeff Vandorn. While interviewing Vandorn, the police report states he claimed to be a combat veteran, and he was not "stupid enough to go around shooting stop signs."
The report states at that time, none of officers on the scene mentioned a stop sign.
The stop sign at 8th Street and Minnesota Avenue appeared to have been shot five times.
Officers told Yates, they planned to arrest Vandorn for the crime, which prompted Yates to admit to perpetrating the act.
