Police say rape cases not related

CHICKASHA — A second rape in three days has been reported to Chickasha Police, but there is nothing linking the most recent incident to one that happened Saturday morning.

Officers responded to a call Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the 500 block of West Idaho in response to a sexual assault. When they arrived, the victim said she was asleep in her home when she was awakened by a white male acquaintance who came in unannounced and without consent. The man, who has not been named by police, had an active protective order taken out against him by the victim.

“He was obviously known to the victim,” Chickasha Police Chief Eddie Adamson said. “A suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing. No one is in custody.”

The alleged assault happened within four blocks of a reported rape that occurred on Colorado Avenue on Saturday. Police are still searching for a black male suspect in that case but they do not have any reason to believe the two cases are related, Adamson said.

Similarly, the victim in the Saturday incident did not know how her alleged attacker gained entry to her home. Police were called there at about 1 a.m. after the victim reported being awoken by a black male in her home.
