Police take down drunk bike rider

CHICKASHA —

A man was arrested and charged with public intoxication Tuesday night after drunkenly riding his bicycle on West Nevada Avenue. 

Chickasha Police Sgt. Jeremy Alexander said he witnessed Eric Jantz disobey a stop sign at the intersection of 7th Street and Nevada Avenue. Jantz then swerved in front of Alexander's patrol car. 

"Jantz could have easily been run over had l not stopped," said Alexander. "l could tell by the Way Jantz was weaving and having a hard time keeping his balance that he was probably intoxicated. l stopped Jantz and immediately smelled a strong odor | associate with the consumption of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Jantz said he had drunk, 'Way too much.'"

Jantz refused to perform a field sobriety test and was booked into the Grady County Jail on suspicion of public intoxication.
