In what has seemed to become a weekly occurrence, a woman was arrested at the Chickasha Walmart Monday after a failed shoplifting attempt.
Chickasha Police Sgt. Jeremy Alexander was notified by a Walmart employee that he saw Teresa Brewer attempt to take close to $260 worth of items from the store.
The inventory included bedding, bath towels and a storage container, acceding to the employee.
"The Walmart employee watched Brewer select the merchandise from the sales floor, load it into a shopping cart, and push the cart past all points of sale without an attempt to pay for the merchandise," Alexander wrote in an incident report. "The employee detained Brewer and called the police."
Brewer said she was walking outside with the merchandise to look for a ride that was supposed to pick her up from the store. Surveillance cameras outside the store revealed Brewer drove into the parking lot, exited her vehicle and walked into the store alone. Alexander said the vehicle never left the parking lot and no one else was in the car.
Brewer was arrested for larceny of merchandise from a retailer and booked into the Grady County jail.
