A Chickasha resident received substantial head wounds from his boyfriend alledgedly hitting him in the head with a liquor bottle early Thursday morning.
Chickasha Police Officer Reid Kerr responded to a call of a fight in progress in the 700 block of Utah Avenue. Upon his arrival, Kerr noticed Sean Sims already detained by another CPD officer.
"I immediately noticed cast off blood throughout the residence and that one subject, later identified as Zachary Burns, had been severely beaten in the head," Kerr said. "Zachary's grandmother Shirley Miller also had blood across her legs and all over her shirt. Zach's wounds were so severe that EMS was called to the scene and Zach was struggling to open his eyes. Zach told me that his boyfriend Sean was upset about something Zach's grandmother had said."
Miller claimed she witnessed the fight. She said Sims pinned Burns to the ground and hit him repeatedly.
"Shirley (Miller) stated 'Sean was beating Zach senseless, l tried to pull him off but he would not stop." Kerr said. "Shirley also told me that Sean had taken a liquor bottle and was beating Zach in the back with it. The fight continued as Sean pulled Zach's hair and struck him in the face numerous times."
Burns said Sims started a fight with him because Miller wanted Sims to leave and move to New Mexico.
Sims was placed under arrest and transported to the Grady County Jail under suspicion of committing domestic abuse. Sims claimed he was defending himself and Miller during the fight.
