CHICKASHA —

Altrusa has planned an evening of auctions, dining and charity to benefit two community organizations.

The Altrusa Hall of Trees Gala will take place at 6 p.m. on Nov. 16 in the University of Science and Art Oklahoma Ballroom. This year's theme is "Winter Wonderland." There will be a dinner accompanied by piano music, wine, social hour and a silent and live auction with Sue Boswell acting as auctioneer.

While the setting gives homage to a winter wonderland, the grand live auction item may leave attendees craving sand and sun. A five night, four day stay trip to the Sandals Grande Riviera Beach and villa Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica in an all inclusive resort, airfare included, is the grand live auction item.

Invitations are sent for this event to businesses who often donate items to the auction, but reservations can be made by contacting Grote at 405.779.0279.

Altrusa's annual Hall of Trees Gala will benefit Chickasha Mobile Wheels and the Chickasha Emergency Pantry for the third year, Mary Gote, of the Chickasha Altrusa Club, said.

Altrusa selects a community organization through an application process every three years.

Altrusa's festive galas have been successful in years past. Last year, the Altrusa Hall of Trees Gala raised nearly $10,000, or $4,900 for each organization, Grote said.

Altrusa is an international civic organization whose main focus is on literacy. Every year, they provide dictionaries to third graders in Chickasha, Pioneer and Friend. Altrusa also donates to the University of Science and Art Oklahoma "Books for Tots" program as well as Chickasha Head Start.

Every year Altrusa provides scholarship funds to the Adult Learning Center for GED students. At the graduation ceremonies, Altrusa hosts a reception for graduates and their families and friends, Grote said.
