Facebook messages to 14-year-old land man in Grady jail

A 48-year old Chickasha man has been arrested for making lewd and indecent proposals to an underage girl.

During a two-day investigation, Chickasha Police arrested Vernon Ray Quillin for exchanging sexually explicit Facebook messages with a 14-year-old girl. The girl's parents brought the accusations to police on Monday after they saw the online exchanges, with the father telling police that he believes the suspect was having sex with his daughter.

During police questioning, Quillin "vehemently denied" ever having sex with the juvenile because he knew she was underage and that there was no "real" relationship, according to a CPD affidavit. He also denied ever touching her in an inappropriate manner. Quillin told police she told him she would be turning 18 in August.

However, the investigation revealed one message sent by Quillin to the minor indicating he knew of her actual age.

"Because I didn't know how mature you was in spite of your age baby," the e-mail reads, "you don't act like you are just 14."

Each of the e-mails sent were signed "Vernon loves (juvenile) always and forever," according to the affidavit. The girl's name has been omitted since she is a minor.

It is one of more than 300 exchanges between Quillin and the minor that were passed on to police. A "selfie," or self portrait taken with a cell phone, that Quillin allegedly sent to the girl was also turned into police.

Quillin acknowledged sending e-mails as well as the photo of himself to the girl during questioning, according to the affidavit. He was booked into Grady County Jail on Tuesday.
