What goes on Buy Sell or Trade

(Continued)

CHICKASHA —

"I think people have really enjoyed selling or buying things. There has been many advantages of having the site for lost items, animals, or just helpful info."

Another item commonly seen on the website deals with the still hotly contested national issue of gun sales. The firearms trade is an almost daily occurrence on Buy Sell or Trade, and while it is completely legal in Oklahoma -- along with selling guns online in general -- the practice does not come without its dangers.

"You would not know if they are a felon or someone that's not allowed to have a firearm," Chief Eddie Adamson said. "It's not a requirement to go through the ATF."

According to Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the law allows the owner of a gun to sell it to another private individual that is a resident of the same state, so long as the seller "does not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited" from possessing one.

Essentially, someone selling a gun over Buy Sell or Trade does not have to check that a buyer has a concealed carry license or run a background check. They only have to make sure the owner is at least 21 years old, and that's only the age limit to carry a handgun.
