Knife-point standoff ends in arrest

The Express-Star

A Chickasha man has been arrested on assault and abuse charges after holding his wife and son at knife point.

Michael Morris Jr. was taken to Grady County Jail Thursday after Chickasha Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Louisiana Avenue. When they arrived, Morris Jr. was visibly upset and had what appeared to be scratches on his neck. According to a report, Morris Jr. told police the scratches were actually self-inflicted cuts he made because his wife, Kassandra, "would not talk to him."

That morning, Morris Jr. had allegedly thrown a mobile phone at Kassandra. When she grabbed Morris Jr.'s son to leave the house, the report says he blocked the door while wielding a 13-inch kitchen knife. Kassandra and the little boy were then forced back onto a couch, clinging to each other with Morris Jr. screaming at them while walking toward the pair.

When he turned around, threatening to kill himself, the report says, Kassandra was able to exit the house and call 911. Police placed Morris Jr. under arrest for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse in the presence of a child, and kidnapping.

There were also claims Morris Jr. has been using methamphetamine and attempted to force his wife to do the same, however no drug related charges have been filed.
