CHICKASHA — Those who wish to get rid of excess clutter can have a garage sale this weekend without having to acquire a permit from the city.
The city council agreed to waive the $5 garage sale permit for garage sales within the city limits starting tomorrow and ending Sunday, said City Clerk Gina Snedeker.
Snedeker said she receives many calls from residents organizing a garage sale.
Normally, permits are required to be posted at the sale and can be purchased from the city clerk's office at the Chickasha City Hall at 117 N. 4th Street or the Express-Star office at 302 N. 3rd Street, according to the city.
The permit is good for either one or two consecutive days.
Garage sale signs are allowed on private property with the owner's permission, but not on utility poles, traffic signal poles or medians dividing any streets, highways or service roads.
Signs are only allowed to be placed during the garage sale.
