CHICKASHA — A bonfire party near Dibble became somber when a man allegedly left the party and ran over a 19-year-old military man from the Chickasha area.
McClain County Sheriff's Office Detective Dana Guthrie said the incident occurred early Monday morning in the 2000 block of 230th Street in Washington.
Guthrie said the suspect, Conner Thomas, was asked to leave multiple times by partygoers, became angry and eventually left.
As he was leaving, Thomas was driving recklessly in a field and ran over Trenton Mills, who was at the party, without stopping, he said.
Investigators spoke to people at the party who knew Thomas and were able to locate him at his residence and take him into custody, Guthrie said.
Mills is reportedly in the intensive care unit at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center.
