Chickasha Community Foundation accepting applications for grants

CHICKASHA —

The Chickasha Community Foundation is accepting letters of inquiry from local organizations interested in applying for 2014 CCF grants.

The projects that receive CCF funding can improve education and quality of life in Chickasha, according to CCF.

Orgnizations can request as much grant money as they need, but CCF designated $125,000 for grants this year, according to CCF.

"We have been impressed with the quality and variety of projects that we get to consider," CCF Board Member Jim Allen said. "The commitment of our community's volunteers makes the board feel optimistic about the future of Chickasha."

Communities Foundation of Oklahoma Outreach Director Will Merrick said CCF is able to allocate 5 percent of their funds, which comes from a $2.5 million donation from the Doris Walk Trust, to grants for organizations this year.

Since it began in 2011, CCF has awarded $345,000 to Chickasha organizations, including Access Health Care, Artscope, Chickasha School Foundation, Inc. and more.

"[The grant funding] is going to be about the same [this year], but we hope to give away more each year" Merrick said. "We also accept donations."

He said the CCF board received one letter of inquiry Wednesday, and will review it and the other letters they receive to determine how to use the grant funds on September 23.
