The Associated Press is reporting that a University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma professor of history will enter the race for Sen. Tom Coburn's vacant seat.
According to reports, Kevin Crow will announce his entry into the Republican field of candidates for Coburn's seat on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Canadian Valley Technology Center. Crow, 45, is an associate professor of history at USAO and has never run for public office before.
As a state funded university, USAO can take no position, either in favor of or otherwise, to Crow's announcement, spokesman Rob Vollmar said Friday. Calls to Kevin Crow's office and the Division of Social Sciences and Business were not returned as of press time.
After the official announcement, Crow will join U.S. Rep. James Lankford, former Oklahoma House Speaker T.W. Shannon, and two other Republican hopefuls in the race for Coburn's vacated seat.
