Tuttle, Rush Springs drop first games

GRADY COUNTY —

The Tigers will travel to Elk City next week.

Redskins fall to 4A Elgin

The Redskins had trouble putting points on the board this week against 4A Elgin, which led to a 21-7 loss.

"There were three times we were in the red zone and we didn't come away with points," Head Coach Tim Beard said. "We just didn't capitalize."

Despite the loss, Beard said he was impressed with what he saw from his defense.

"They're a good 4A school and we only allowed 21 points," he said. "That's a good start."

Beard said he knew the first game of the season was going to be difficult.

"We were just going up against a bigger school," he said. "We just wanted to go out and compete. That was our goal on every down."

The Redskins managed to hold their own during out-of-district games against larger schools last year, said Beard, and he believes the team will only get stronger moving forward.

"For the most part we executed our game plan, but we just couldn't come away with a win," he said.

Rush Springs will take on Riverside next week on the road.
