Suspect sought in robbery case

CHICKASHA —

Law enforcement officials are searching for a man they believe is responsible for a robbery at Grand Care Pharmacy last Friday during which pills of pain killers were taken.

Chickasha Police Department has released pictures from security cameras inside the store of a masked man entering the pharmacy on W. Iowa Street and demanding clerks give him a variety of pain medications. The suspect is a white male, approximately 5 ft. 6 in. tall and weight about 170 pounds. He was wearing a blue button down shirt, black dress slacks, a Chickasha "C" baseball cap with a black backpack over his shoulders.

As the suspect was leaving, one of the employees saw he had thick red hair from behind when the ski mask was lifted up.

At around 6 p.m. Friday, the suspect entered Grand Care with a black ski mask on that appeared homemade. The employees were threatened, but no weapon was visible.

"No weapon was seen, but the people were told to put their hands up and no one would get hurt," CPD Chief Eddie Adamson said. "They're currently doing an inventory to determine the value of the pills stolen, but it was two commercial sized bottles."

All of the medication stolen was pain killers, and Adamson said there are two main reasons why the suspect would steal them.

"It could be for personal use or he could be looking to sell them," Adamson said. "[Theft of medication] is increasingly becoming a problem. There's definitely a market for them. But, the fact that is happened to our citizens puts it at the top of our priority list."

Along with the photos of the robbery, police have released pictures of the suspect when they believe he entered the pharmacy earlier that day. Police hope those photos will help them get a foothold in the investigation.
