The USAO men's basketball team was eliminated in the first round of the NAIA Division I National Championship tournament to Southwestern Assemblies of God on Wednesday morning in Kansas City, Mo.
The Drovers (17-10) lost the game 62-58 to SAGU, which is ranked No. 6 with a 30-4 record.
USAO led for the entire first half, and by as many as nine points, ending the first period up 28-23. Neither team shot well in the first half, with SAGU at 31 percent and USAO at 33 percent.
The Drovers had 27 turnovers, and despite outrebounding Southwestern Assemblies of God 42-35, they gave up 17 offensive rebounds while only gaining 12 of their own.
Jahseth Lloyd was USAO's leading scorer with 11 points, and tied for the team lead with eight rebounds.
Shavon Scott was the Drovers' only other player in double figures with 10 points. Norris Rumph scored eight points to go with seven assists and four rebounds.
SAGU's top three scorers were Mike Nwelue with 19, Dominique Rambo with 12 and Tyler Guidry with 10 points.
