Chickasha baseball powers to win over Lawton Mac

— The Chickasha High School baseball team isn't known for its power, but three home runs helped the Chicks to a run-rule win at Lawton MacArthur on Monday evening.

Brant Haile, Hayden Johnson and Lane Smith each hit home runs during Chickasha's 12-0 five-inning  win over the Highlanders.

With the win, Chickasha is guaranteed to finish at least second in district 5A-1.

"We told the kids before we came over here that this was kind of like a playoff game, and if we wanted to host a regional we needed to win one of these two, and boy they responded well," head coach Brad Gore said.

Lane Smith pitched a complete game shutout.

"He had to adjust to the strike zone a little bit, but he didn't get frustrated on some close pitches that he didn't get. Give him a lot of credit, he's grown up a lot," Gore said.

Weather allowing, Chickasha will play MacArthur again Tuesday at Elliott Field at 5 p.m.

If the game is canceled due to rain, it will be made up later in the week since it is a district game.
