Canines have opportunity to invade park

CHICKASHA — Bark for Life will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 6 at the University of Science and Arts Oklahoma Oval.

Same day registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The opening ceremony will start at 9:20 a.m.

This will be the first time that Bark for Life will take place at the USAO Oval. Dogs and their owners will be able to enjoy the chalk art remaining from the Montmartre Chalk Art Festival from Droverstock on April 4.

There will be lots of fun activities for participants and their pooches: get dressed to the canines for the dog costume contest, learn to sit during the musical chairs game, show off matching puppy dog eyes during the dog/owner look-a-like contest and engage in a good old fashioned game of fetch. There will be lots of activities and prizes as well as demonstrations, Loutsch said.

"We will have a bake sale and puppy treats and people treats," Loutsch said.

While there are lots of fun and games, Loutsch said that this event is also a fundraiser. The dog that raises the most money will be crowned Top Dog.

"Come out and play with us."

Individual registration is $10 to pre-register, $15 to register the day of the event or $10 with a student ID. The registration fee for teams is $20 per team. Register online at or contact Loutsch for a form. Brochures and forms can be picked up at local dog groomers and veterinarians.

Relay teams interested in having their fundraiser at the Bark for Life event are asked to contact Loutsch so that tables and chairs can be made available.
