Interurban's loans clear for construction

CHICKASHA — Interurban Restaurant is continuing to move forward in plans of expansion in Chickasha.

Co-Owner Zachary Grayson said two loans have just been approved and this will allow for construction to begin.

“We have been chasing this dog for a while now,” Grayson said. “We had to jump through a few hoops but we are excited to finally get this going.”

Private contractor Tony Tuthill will be overseeing construction of the restaurant, which will be built near Walmart.

Interurban, a popular eatery in various Oklahoma cities already, was first founded in 1976. The business features a wide variety of menu items, as well as offers catering services.

“The people of Chickasha can expect quality food and service,” Grayson said.

According to Grayson, construction should begin by the end of next week.

“It will depend on the weather,” Grayson said, “but we are expecting construction to take about four or five months.”

Grayson currently operates the Duncan location with Josh Woods. The management team will now take on the responsibility of overseeing two stores, but Grayson welcomes the challenge.

“We both come from small towns in Oklahoma,” Grayson said, “and we have already started exploring avenues to really get involved with the community and help out as a small business. We are happy to begin serving the people of Chickasha.”

If all goes as planned, he said, the Chickasha location is set to open its doors in November.
