Man arrested for alledgedly attacking former roommate with knife

A man was arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on Feb. 26 after allegedly attacking his former roommate with a knife.

Chickasha Police Officer Cliff Walker said he arrived to Ryan Cranford's home, where alleged assailant Kristopher Austin had been staying, and spoke to Cranford and four witnesses.

"Ryan had a cut behind his left ear that looked to be about 2 in. long," Walker said. "I spoke to Ryan and all four witnesses who advised that they had called the police earlier in the day about Kristopher because of his drinking."

He said Cranford kicked Austin out of his home and put a bag with his things on the porch.

Austin came back to the home without knocking or being invited in to ask Cranford about his things, according to the incident report.

"They told me that Kris was told his bag was on the porch, but that he continued to escalate and eventually attacked Ryan with a knife," Walker said.

Cranford was able to force Austin out of his home and Austin ran east of the house, according to the affidavit.

"Ryan said, at first, he didn't realize he had been cut, but then he felt the pain and the blood coming from his neck," Walker said.

Walker said the knife Cranford described was a brown, Old Timer folding knife with two blades.

The witnesses reported Austin was very drunk during the attack and had been drinking since early in the day, according to the affidavit.

Walker said Austin had been alternating between Cranford's and another house for four or five months.

Austin was arrested for assault and battery with a deadly weapon and taken to the Grady County Jail.
