Chicks draw Mac, Jets in regionals

Chickasha will hit the road in two weeks' time in their first round regional basketball games in Class 5A West.

The No. 10 Lady Chicks head to Piedmont on Feb. 27 where they'll take on Western Heights. The Lady Jets will be familiar opponents for Chickasha, since the two teams meet in the regular season six days prior.

"We do play at Western Heights one week from today, and that is beneficial to us," head coach Christy Edelen said ahead of the Lady Chicks' Friday night game in El Reno. "Last year we were able to gain some momentum going into the playoffs and we hope to do the same this year."

Either Piedmont or Guymon await the winners of the first round game.

After El Reno, Chickasha plays No. 4 Carl Albert at home on Monday before another home game against Durant the following night. Boys' games will follow. Their last regular season game is away to Duncan on Feb. 24.

The Chickasha boys will go to Lawton to take on No. 5 Lawton-MacArthur in the first regional round. They take on either No. 6 El Reno, who they met Friday, or Noble.

The second round of regional games is on March 1. Both the Lady Chicks and Fightin' Chicks are coming off unexpected playoff runs from last season.
