Chickasha freshmen and middle schoolers play Elgin

— The Chickasha High School freshman girls basketball team lost to Elgin on Monday night.

The Lady Chicks lost the game 41-31. Kelsi Gore scored 10 points. Taylor Sylvester and Hanna Fergason scored nine points each. Amanda Bradford scored three points.

The Chickasha High School freshman boys basketball team beat Elgin 53-44.

Chris Wilson and Brandon Shumway scored 15 points each. Colton Christian scored 10 points. Taray Thomas had nine points.

The Chickasha Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team lost 37-23 to Elgin.

Dayana Daniels had six points. Meredith Noland had four points. Addyson Chambers had four points. Keylee Cauthen, Savana Gallegos, Jaycie Brown and Laekyn Parish had two points each. Bailey Allen had one point.

The Chickasha Middle School seventh grade basketball team lost 18-14 to Elgin. Tamia Murry had six points, and Erin Powell led with eight points.

"We played much better last night, we rebounded the ball better and were able to get out on the fast break," head coach Nancy Waters said. "The defense did a great job of putting pressure on their ball handlers, which caused them to turn the ball over. We're learning and getting better every game."

The Chickasha Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team lost 25-15 to Elgin.

Grady McKnight and Larry Abram scored three points each. Jacob McClanahan, Carlos Pando, David Thibodeaux and Ben Niedy scored two points each. Jasten Sanchez had one point.

"Overall the kids played really well and showed a lot of fight and character," head coach Larry Coley said. "Our biggest problem is shooting the ball. We missed lay-ups, easy jump shots and were nervous shooting free throws.

"We will work on that in practice over the next few days and get ready to go play Anadarko on Thursday."
