The eighth graders of Pioneer School could perform live on stage with legendary rock band, Foreigner at their upcoming concert at the Zoo Amphitheater on May 16.
But they need your help.
The eighth graders have entered a contest that involves making a video singing a Foreigner song.
The Pioneer eighth graders chose the song "Feels Like the First Time" but with a Pioneer School twist. The new play on words gives a postive message about the school, Rick Webb, Pioneer School Technology Coordinator, said.
The video shows students saying the pledge of allegiance during the "first few minutes of class," the kindergarteners during the "first year of school" and a student opening the door for another student "first time putting others first."
Currently, Pioneer is head to head with All Saints Catholic School of Norman, with Pioneer in the lead by about 100 votes. Still, according to Webb, the kids have worked really hard and need all the votes they can get.
If the Pioneer eighth graders win, they will perform "I Wanna Know What Love Is" on stage with Foreigner. This song was originally performed with a choir.
The students will have free tickets to the concert and $500 will go to Pioneer School, Webb said.
To vote, go to KOOL 105.5's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/classichits1055), watch the Pioneer school video, and "like" it, which counts as a vote. The contest closes May 11.
Foreigner will be performing at the Zoo Amphitheater on May 16 along with Styx an Don Felder.
