— Two Drovers recorded their best times in Saturday’s Sooner Athletic Conference Championship meet at Oklahoma Baptist.
In the meet, both Tabby Bailey and Katie Jones finished the five-kilometer race faster than they have all season. Bailey, who sat out injured in the previous race, finished in 21:30.60, 25 seconds fast than she did a month ago.
Jones cut just a second off of her previous record, which also was set a month ago. Her time was 24:30.
As she has all season, junior Brittni Kent was the first Drover to cross the finish line on Saturday. She came in 20th among the 66 races with a time of 19:46.
Senior Beatriz Rey and freshman Deborah Park finished within seconds of each other at 21:33 and 21:41 respectively.
In their first ever SAC Championship meet, the Drovers finished eighth as a team.
The meet wraps up the Drovers’ first season in more than 15 years. The season saw personal and school records set in each meet, and the Drovers are hopeful for an even stronger 2013.
