Worshop illuminates dark topic

(Continued)

CHICKASHA —

While human trafficking may sometimes be thought of a problem that exists elsewhere, it does happen in the U.S. and in Oklahoma, Sanders said. However, that is becoming less of a distinction.

"We live in a global world," Sanders said. "As sisters of the world, we need to stick together."

The headquarters for She Is Safe is located in Atlanta, but Sanders works from home in Duncan, Okla. She has been with the organization for over two years and has traveled to Indonesia five times working with She Is Safe partners in Northern Sumatra and Bali helping to free and empower women from trafficking, abuse and poverty.

"I am honored to work with an amazing organization like She Is Safe," Sanders said.

There will also be a painting party fundraiser 6 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 24  or 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan 25 in Duncan at the First Baptist Church, Duncan Craft Room at 901 W. Ash. To sign up or for more information contact Sanders at dsanders@sheissafe.org or 580.467.1479.
