— The Chickasha High School wrestling team won four titles at the Deer Creek Invitational tournament over the weekend.

Heavyweight Jacoby Brown won a 3-1 decision over No. 2 Follis from Deer Creek.

Freshman Dakota Resendez won his first career high school title over a Piedmont wrestler in an 8-4 decision.

Triston Hill also won his first career high school title, beating a returning state placer from Marlow in an 8-7 decision in the finals.

David Eakers dominated his finals match, winning 7-0 over a returning 6A state placer from Edmond Santa Fe.

Eakers was voted Most Outstanding Wrestler by the coaches, the first time he has won that award at a tournament.

Bubba Wright placed second in the tournament. He lost a close match to a returning state placer.

Josh Latham placed third with a 6-1 win in the consolation finals. Riley Williams and Lamar Neff both placed fifth in their weight classes.

Despite wrestling without starters Coy Richardson and Sam Richardson, the Fightin' Chicks still placed fourth overall as a team.

"I was happy with our overall performance," head coach Chad Randle said. "We had a lot more positives than negatives, and I was really happy with David getting his OW award, especially with all the hard work he has put in."

Up next for Chickasha is a competition at Blanchard High School against Blanchard and Newcastle on Dec. 13.
