Local film star comes back to Chickasha

CHICKASHA — Dudley Dickerson, film star and Chickasha native, has made an appearance in the recent publication Oklahoma at the Movies.

In the book, the article "Dudley Dickerson: a Reminiscence" written by Chickasha's own Loretta Y. Jackson of the Loretta Y. Jackson African American Historical Society discusses Dickerson's film career.

According to Jackson, Dickerson went to Lincoln when he was a boy, where he was known as somewhat of a clown. Dudley later went on to be in over 160 movies.

Jackson visited Lincoln to show the students the article in the book to send an inspiring message to the children.

"You can be anything you want to be. Be part of society and make it better. You can start right here at Lincoln and be whatever you want to be."

Jackson is donating a copy of Oklahoma at the Movies to Lincoln's school library. She said that there are many Oklahoma stars in the book.
